Backup Importance: Please remember, there is nothing more important in the computing environment than system backups. A system crash without a good backup can devastate a healthy business with the loss of payables, receivables, databases, sales information and other critical information.
Backup Procedure: A minimum of two weeks of backups (ten tapes) should be kept on site at all times. Multiple off site "week end" and "month end" tapes should be maintained in case of a system crash or data corruption. A backup administrator should be assigned to monitor daily backups. Daily backup logs should be printed and retained.
Redundant Backups: In addition, we recommend internet based backups for smaller companies, or real time data replication with the appropriate failover program for larger more complex operations.
